Tuesday, July 4, 2017: Independence Day

Two photos that pretty much sum up how I feel about this country on its day of independence. (Click on images to enlarge):
We live in a dark time with someone who is manifestly unfit for the Oval Office and enough people who don’t see this as a problem. The damage being done to our environment, our civil liberties, workplace safety and food protection, the disadvantaged, public education, international development, and our moral standing among nations is like nothing else that’s happened in my 70-plus years. If there is any “carnage” taking place in the United States now, it’s the assault on truth, reason, decency, integrity, and compassion being led by our so-called Commander-in-Chief.
Contrary to popular myth, a frog will jump out of a pot of water that is gradually raised to the boiling point. What will it take for America to do something similar?
(Note: A shorter version of this has been cross-posted on my InSanity blog.)
Since his inauguration, his party continues to gain traction in the special elections. This is troubling to me because it appears that many folks support this madness. I predict darker times ahead.

Yup. Sometimes I think the sole reason people support him is because in their minds, they’re watching a TV reality show where it’s fun to give someone else the finger. Great way to run a democracy, isn’t it?
SAD.

…and damage to our moral standing internally as well. What do young people learn from his behavior and the response to it? Chilling thought.
…and intelligence, where did that go?
