Are we talking about in-camera multiple exposures or post-image capture composites which is what these are? Assembling the layers is a tedious process, as you may know, and doesn’t always produce the results one had hoped for. When it does work, however, the image feels more like a richly textured, complex painting than a photograph.
I’ve struggled with multi-exposure shots so I know how difficult it can be to come up with anything as nice as these.
