Other illustrious alumni besides Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss who has an entire museum devoted to him across the street) are: Taj Mahal, William Manchester, and Timothy Leary. As far as I can tell, the Leary Museum keeps a very low profile.
The present atrium was created by removing the high school’s auditorium seating and floor, and exposing the lunchroom in the former basement. The grand staircase was added as part of the conversion to luxury apartments that began in 1986.
Great shots, Alan. Where is everybody?

Funny you should ask Ken. There are close to 100 apartments in this building and you rarely see anyone in the hallways or atrium. My friend, who lives there, and I always joke about it really being a Potemkin village.

Oh, Alan. The colors, the points of view, everything! It can’t have been easy to control the light so well. Congratulations on another stunning post.

Thanks Linda. If I had to light the stairwell it would have been quite a challenge. As it was though, I didn’t have to do anything but point my camera downward and frame the shot. At this particular time of day, the light was perfect.

Wow, absolutely stunning, the way all the elements come together in that first image. The shapes, the colors, all of it (Linda said it better, I think!). Really handsome! Now I will check out the link.
