Your foggy night conjures vague nostalgic feelings in me. I remember riding in the back seat of my father’s car when I was little. It was summer, and the window was open. Two boys older than I rode their bikes past the car (how could that be—faulty memory for sure), and one of them said that a cloud had fallen. I asked my dad if that was so, and he said, “No, it’s just fog” in a matter-of-fact voice. I think I was disappointed, or maybe just confused. I might not even have known what fog was. . . . Your crushed can engages my brain’s love of line. I like it a lot.
Thanks Linda. So glad the foggy night photo evoked a nostalgic memory for you.
What appealed to me about the crushed can was its semi-buried state amidst debris and dirt at the end of a driveway. Had it not been sitting there so long, the lines would not have been so strong.
Is this an argument though for leaving litter in the street? I certainly hope not :)
Reading your comment above about the can – I wasn’t sure it was real – how cool though, the way just those pieces stood out in relief, like a print. The tree’s limbs seem flattened, but the lights and buildings don’t, so that photograph has an odd tension – very nice.
