Absolutely like being in a candy store – these are great. I love the first 4 together – no, the first 5. Hmmm. They’re all great. I already said that, didn’t I?

The backstory to my visit is that I was desperately trying to get rid of a compact refrigerator I bought for $5.00 only to discover it didn’t work. Leaving it for curbside pick-up would have cost $8.00 which on principle I hated to pay. Taking it back to the place where I got it would have been more hassle than it was worth.
I eventually found this scrap yard to take it but nothing prepared me for just how amazing it was: everything from kids bikes, lawn mowers, exercise weights, tires, and gumball machines to junk cars, forklift trucks, and mega road-construction machinery.
That five bucks I spent on a non-working fridge turned out to be money well spent :)

I love that story – that’s exactly how great discoveries happen. It’s roundabout but it got you there. ;-)

The irony is that I bought the fridge at a local photo gallery’s silent auction. If anyone had told me it wasn’t meant to keep things cold but was rather a scrap yard admission ticket, I might have bid more :)
