I have kept the e-mail to this post in my inbox, hoping to think of something meaningful to write in a comment. I’m not sure I’ve arrived at that point, but here’s my attempt. Your recent selfies and most of all (so far) this photo make me think of family humor. These are the kinds of faces a person (I) would feel comfortable making in front of family. I stand in awe of your willingness to make yourself vulnerable like this, or show your vulnerability, to your worldwide viewers, most of us strangers (though perhaps increasingly less so). I view these photographs as sacrifices for art, and I thank you for them. You are a brave artist.
Thanks so much for your comment, Linda, but in truth I don’t feel vulnerable or brave by posting these photos: 1) Like you, I consider them done in jest as you might with family or friends; 2) I don’t think the aging body is anything to hide; 3) It’s not like I’m being threatened by trolls as I’ve experienced in the past on political blogs; and 4) As I told Ken in another thread, I actually believe I’m better-looking than these pictures suggest (girlfriend agrees :)
When a blogger’s supply of models is severely limited, he’s just gotta do what a man’s gotta do :)
Fabulous! Wow.

Thanks Ken. Don’t envy the eyeglasses — I wouldn’t have them if I weren’t hard of hearing :)
