If anyone knows the name of this plant, please let me know so I can properly identify it. First one with the correct answer gets free admission to Pixetera for the year, not to mention a garden full of thanks :)
I believe the name of the plant is Ralph. I could be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. Back in 1985.

Thanks Ken. You may be right but I’ll wait for others (Linda and Lynn, I’m looking at you :) to weigh in — just in case, there are other possibilities to consider.

I’ll chime in–looks like it could be pokeweed, though the berries aren’t ripe yet and I can’t see the leaves.

Maybe….
I was wrong just yesterday.
Twice.
At least.

Hmmmm, not so sure that’s right Johnny: (1) This is a plant in a formal public garden, so I don’t think they would have planted a poisonous common weed; (2) The berries are green not purple; and (3) The stems are green, not red.
Will check it out again this week to see if there are any changes that might provide better clues.

1) Formal, huh? Too good for Poisonous Common Weeds? Bah!
2) Poke-berries is green too, least ’till they’s ripe….
3) I’s Color-Blinded. Cain’t see no stem-color variances….
and….
4) I S’pose this means I ain’t gettin’ no dang pryze then, huh?

The jury’s still out. I have yet to get back there and photograph more of the plant and it’s growth since last time.

So cool! I don’t know what it is – was it in a planter outside? I think so. Definitely not Ralph. Maybe you can photograph it again when it blooms, and at least we can figure out the gender. ;-)

Good advice. This is something I planned on doing.

I think I might just know.
But your spam-filter ate my comment….

Thanks for alerting me to the problem, now fixed, with your comment. Your initial response now appears as the third one down from the top.

Not really a problem, necessarily. I dropped two internet links in there. That’s usually enough to set off any spam-watch-dog…
