Thanks Lynn. One path I didn’t pursue was consciously trying to mold the wire into recognizable forms. Much easier to discover something interesting that occurred through pure serendipity than attempting to intentionally accomplish the same. In fact, the latter initially scared me off.
When I finally did overcome my fears, I started to make a human figure, which then turned into a face, which then became a cow with two legs :) That’s when I gave up.
I may give it another shot at some point but in the meantime, I recommend it highly to others who may be more talented than I am at drawing and sculpting. (It doesn’t take much :)
I would tend away from recognizable objects, too, but if it’s done well it can work. These read as abstract shapes to me, and that’s enough – the variation in how the basic shape is treated is interesting. Of course, the shape itself has to be compelling enough in the first place, and it is. :-)
I like it when you take something and run with it…Happy Everything, Alan!
