This is a bag that sits in the hallway outside my front door to collect junk mail. Today, I happened to catch the light hitting it at just the right time.
What a wonderful image! The word that popped up in my mind as I saw this was “hope”. When most things are dark, even like a black, deep hole, there is that ray of hope, ever so tiny, and that’s where your eyes want to go.
Before your comment, galeriaredelius, my take on this image was a very conventional one, i.e., a black hole that sucks everything into it and from which nothing escapes. Thanks so much for giving me a whole new way to look at it.
Oooooooh. Now this is why I’m subscribed to your blog. You know how to make beauty.

I like that phrase, “a slice of light.” Like something a photographer would order in a deli before a shoot.
