Sorry but I couldn’t resist posting this screen shot from Vice-President Joe Biden’s Wednesday appearance on The View. When every day brings new allegations of sexual harassment by prominent men, even Closed Captioning can’t escape the zeitgeist:
All joking aside, the only reason I was watching the program was because of Biden’s moving exchange with Meghan McCain. It starts just after the 18:00 minute mark when she asks about coping with the terminal cancer diagnosis that both Senator McCain and Biden’s son, Beau (now deceased), received. His response comes as a welcome antidote to the mean-spirited state of politics in the age of Trump.

Two photos that pretty much sum up how I feel about this country on its day of independence. (Click on images to enlarge):
We live in a dark time with someone who is manifestly unfit for the Oval Office and enough people who don’t see this as a problem. The damage being done to our environment, our civil liberties, workplace safety and food protection, the disadvantaged, public education, international development, and our moral standing among nations is like nothing else that’s happened in my 70-plus years. If there is any “carnage” taking place in the United States now, it’s the assault on truth, reason, decency, integrity, and compassion being led by our so-called Commander-in-Chief.
Contrary to popular myth, a frog will jump out of a pot of water that is gradually raised to the boiling point. What will it take for America to do something similar?
(Note: A shorter version of this has been cross-posted on my InSanity blog.)
