I would wish everyone a happy new year but, just as we thought 2016 couldn’t get any worse, yet another terrorist attack has taken place — this time when 2017 was less than two hours old. The challenge we face in both the best and worst of times is how to pursue happiness in our own lives without being inured to suffering elsewhere. And how our own good fortune can translate into better lives for others.
