Thanks Linda. I was very conscious of positioning my hand on the door that way but had to shoot a number of shots to get ones that worked. Complicating matters were: (1) balancing the camera in my left hand while placing the right one precisely where it needed to be (with very little margin for error); (2) trying to frame the shot by looking at a screen that was about three feet lower than my head and off to my left; (3) figuring out where my body’s shadow should be in relation to the sunlight streaming in through the window; and (4) dealing with the setting sun peeking in and out of the clouds and worried that it would disappear altogether.
It’s so interesting how the hand appears to wrap around the door. But even without that intriguing feature, it’s a darn good photo.

A real juggling act for sure :)

No! A little down and to the left, I mean your right! Yeah, there’s the handle. :-)

Thanks so much, Johnny. I’ll leave it to you to come up with a name for a selfie that’s taken of one’s shadow.

I think Lee Friedlander did quite a few…..maybe a “Frielfie”?
Bit of a mouthful, but “Shelfie” is probably already taken.
